Vogel State Park
Blairsville, Georgia
May 11th – 14th, 2017

This yearly event is organized to collect more information about the bat community in a specific area in a short period of time.  Blitz participants should be current bat researchers, researchers hoping to gain more bat experience and students interested in gaining experience in the field.  This is not a public event.  Members of the public are welcome at our free bat blitz education event on Saturday, May 12th (see information above).

Bat Blitz Headquarters will be at Picnic Shelter #1 near the park entrance.  Primitive Camping at the Pioneer Camp and a Friday night meal are provided with registration.  If you would prefer to pay for a cabin or campsite, we encourage you to reserve early while there is still availability.

  1. I am a wildlife student at Clemson University. I would like to attend this event, however I have not had a rabies vaccine. If I am unable to acquire a backseat by the time this event occurs, What role would I be able to have during this event?

    1. I’ll have to refer this to one of the organizers as I’m the acting webmaster. I know when you attend if you do not have a vaccine you cannot handle the bats. You can help transport equipment, setup etc… but can’t touch the bats. Sorry for the slow reply.
